I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and pray that 2016 will be one that rewards all your endeavors and blesses those around you.

With a little more than 160 days until the Primary on May 24th, we begin the last but most vital phase of our campaign by personally contacting voters in Cobb. This is the fun part of the campaign because we are in daily contact with some of the nicest people in America. The voters in Cobb appreciate people who make the effort to reach out to them at their homes. Judy and I are looking forward to joining our many volunteers in this grassroots effort.

As events during 2015 reflected, the Chairman has provided ample evidence that he needs to go. He has a predilection for demonizing anyone who criticizes him and blaming County staff members for some lack of action instead of turning the mirror on himself. This was clearly shown in his ham-handed effort at the December 17 Board meeting. In commenting on an issue in which there was near unanimity by all parties that a police officer was out of line, the Chairman again demonstrated his propensity to always steer for an iceberg with a personal attack on a commissioner. His remarks ripped off the final illusion of a functional Board. His campaign theme may be serious leadership when, in fact, what we need is experienced leadership.

My goal is to change the playing field where once again the people are part of the calculus of government. My campaign theme is an experienced leader committed to leading an open and transparent government with trust and integrity.
